Thanks for visiting the National Coal Council's website!
It has been my great pleasure to serve as Chief Executive of the National Coal Council since May 2013 and as an appointed member of the Council between 1998 and 2013. During my two decades of experience with NCC, I have witnessed the tremendous commitment of Council members to provide the Secretary with the benefit of their expertise and experience. Members volunteer their time and effort to prepare high quality reports for the Department of Energy on a wide range of topics. The work of the Council would not be possible without its dedicated members.
As we celebrate 35 years of service to the Secretary of Energy and DOE in 2019, we can look back on and be proud of NCC’s extensive body of work. The breadth of the Council’s work is expansive, ranging from our initial reports in June 1986 on Coal Conversion, Clean Coal Technologies and Interstate Transmission, to our October 2018 reports on Advancing U.S. Coal Exports and Optimizing the Existing Coal Fleet. In between, we’ve tackled utility deregulation and restructuring, climate change, CO2 utilization and coal’s image.
In the years to come, we look forward to contributing to the dialogue on how best to value and use our nation’s abundant and affordable coal resources in traditional and new markets, both here in the U.S. and abroad. It is an honor and a privilege to work in this industry and to serve on the National Coal Council.
