Thanks for visiting the National Coal Council's website!
For over 30 years, the NCC has served as a Federal Advisory Committee to the U.S. Secretary of Energy, providing advice and guidance on topics related to coal production, consumption, transportation, policy and technology.
Today, the increasingly complex nature of issues related to coal production, generation, industrial use, transportation, emissions control and technology deployment dictate the need for an advisory group that has a broad-based breadth of expertise that can be drawn upon to address questions posed by the Secretary. NCC members, who are appointed to serve by the Secretary, answer that call, offering an experienced, diverse perspective on coal-related subjects. Their efforts have resulted in an impressive body of work that highlights the value and benefits of coal for our nation's economic, energy and environmental security. NCC has produced more than 30 studies for the Secretary on topics ranging from carbon management technologies to coal exports to coal conversion to coal plant efficiency to industrial coal use.
The U.S. continues to lead the world in advancing the development of energy technologies and solutions that benefit not only our nation's citizens but those of other developed and emerging economies. The collective work of the Council clearly demonstrates the power of coal to enrich our lives, fuel our economy, improve our environment, keep the U.S. competitive and impact our future. We value the opportunity to provide advice and guidance to the Secretary on these important issues, especially at this critical juncture in coal's global role.
We welcome your input on the NCC website; please let us know what we can do to enhance its value and utility.
